Question:

104 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the State properties, both lands and buildings, in the ownership of his Department; the present use of same in each case; and if it is available for disposal. [26907/02]

The information sought by the Deputy is set out on the following table.

The lands division in my Department is also involved in the administration of approximately 46 hectares of agricultural land and some 1,300 hectares of non-agricultural land, mainly bogland, previously owned by the former Land Commission and which is now vested in the Minister for Agriculture and Food. This land may only be disposed of in accordance with the provisions of section 8 of the Irish Land Commission (Dissolution) Act, 1992.

Nine hectares (approximately) is being transferred to Campus and Stadium Ireland Development Limited in connection with the National Aquatic and Leisure Centre for the Special Olympics 2003.

National Crop Variety Testing Centre, Backweston Farm, County Kildare150 hectares (approximately)

A laboratory complex is being built on 37 hectares (approximately) of the farm.

Tully Bull Testing Station and National Stud350 hectares (approximately)

6.6 hectares is leased to the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation; 2.8 hectares is leased to the Racing Academy and Centre of Education; 4.2 hectares is leased to Kildare Chilling Company.

Potato Testing Centre, Tops Farm, Raphoe, County Donegal78 hectares (approximately)

Potato farm and laboratory.
