Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

489 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received correspondence from the authorities at St. Corban's primary school, Naas, County Kildare, regarding extra teaching posts and the provision of an extra temporary classroom accommodation; if he expects to be in a position to respond positively to this request in 2003; if sufficient funding has been provided to enable the project to proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1919/03]

The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

An application for additional temporary accommodation has been received from the management authorities of the St Corban's national school. However, on the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include this project in this year's school building programme.

The two applications from St. Corban's national school for part-time resource teaching hours are currently being considered by my Department and it is expected that a decision on these applications will be notified to the school in the week beginning 7 April 2003.
