Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

John Gormley

Question:

748 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that St. Michael's House, Ballymun, Dublin 11, has the longest waiting list for residential care in Ireland with about 340 people on the priority residential waiting list, that management have been forced to block respite beds and rent houses and take on staff for which they have no funding, and that there will be no day service for service users who graduate from special national schools and the short-term training centre in 2003; if he will make funding available as a priority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2113/03]

Responsibility for the funding of services at St. Michael's House rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to reply directly to the Deputy in relation to the matter raised.

Question No. 749 answered with Question No. 701.
