Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Paper Shredding Machines.

Willie Penrose

Question:

928 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if there are grants available to individuals to enable them to purchase shredding machines to shred paper for the general community; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1613/03]

There are no specific grants available from my Department for the purchase of paper shredding machines. Under the waste infrastructure capital grants scheme assistance is available towards the provision of recovery and recycling waste infrastructure called for in, or in support of, local authority waste management plans, such as bottle banks, materials recovery facilities, civic amenity sites and composting facilities. In addition, I am also considering appropriate uses of the environment fund which may support, inter alia, waste refuse and recycling activities including community recycling initiatives generally.
