Question:

229 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance his legislative priorities for the remainder of the current Dáil; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2422/03]

The legislative programme for my Department is set out in the press release dated 27 January 2003 issued by my colleague, Deputy Hanafin, the Government Chief Whip and Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach. The details of my Department's programme for the current Dáil session are as follows: the Bills before the Houses are the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland Bill 2002, scheduled for Committee Stage discussion on 4 February; the Unclaimed Life Assurance Policies Bill 2002, scheduled for Report and Final Stage in the Dáil on 5 February; the Capital Acquisitions Tax Consolidation Bill 2002, which completed Second Stage in the Dáil on 30 January and is scheduled to commence Committee Stage on 5 February and the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission Bill 2002 is awaiting Committee Stage in the Dáil.

It is expected that the following Bills will be published during the current Dáil session: the Finance Bill 2003, which must be enacted by 4 April 2003 and the Freedom of Information Act 1997 (Amendment) Bill 2003.
