Vol. 560 No. 4

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

John McGuinness

Question:

234 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if the South-Eastern Health Board supply hearing aid batteries to medical card holders; if other health boards have a policy in relation to this; and if there is a consistent approach throughout the country. [2852/03]

Responsibility for the provision of services, including aids and appliances, for medical card holders is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board. Accordingly, my Department has referred this matter to the health boards and the Eastern Regional Health Authority for investigation and direct reply to the Deputy.
