Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31 dealing with two different topics. I propose to deal with these topics separately and I will call on Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office. In regard to the first topic I have received notices from Deputies Gormley and Morgan. I call on Deputy Gormley to state the matter.

I wish to have the business of the House suspended under Standing Order 31 to discuss the welcome decision of World Airlines to re-route 17 troop carrying flights away from Shannon and the need to ensure that US troops are not permitted to use Shannon in the build-up to a full scale war against Iraq.

The matter is not in accordance with Standing Order 31. I call Deputy Morgan on the same matter.

I seek leave to move a motion under Standing Order 31 to adjourn the Dáil on the following specific and important matter of public interest which requires urgent consideration, namely, the outrageous deployment of the Army of this State against its citizens to protect the military forces of a foreign Government which are using Shannon Airport as part of their build-up to a war of aggression against the Iraqi people and the implications that has for our long-standing and proud tradition of military and political neutrality. We now see a situation where Irish soldiers are being asked to turn their guns on Irish people engaging in legitimate protest.

The matter is not in order under Standing Order 31. As regards the second topic, I have received notice from Deputy Ó Snodaigh. I call on Deputy Ó Snodaigh to state the matter.

I seek leave to move a motion for the Adjournment of the Dáil on the following specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, namely, that the Government cannot deliver a service for which it has been paid by PRSI subscribers, that is, dental treatment, yet the taxpayers have not been granted a rebate for this service.

The matter is not in order under Standing Order 31.
