Vol. 560 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Operations.

Seán Crowe

Question:

120 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to an ongoing campaign of harassment being carried out by Garda officers led by a person (details supplied) against another person (details supplied), to the fact that Garda raids on the premises were an almost weekly occurrence during the summer and that no one was ever charged or arrested as a result of those raids, to the fact that a person did not object to the issuing of a licence to the premises and then proceeded to carry out a campaign of intimidation and harassment claiming that the licence was invalid, and to the stress and worry inflicted on a person and the damage to their reputation and business as a result of the actions of the gardaí; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3032/03]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that this matter is currently before the courts. The Deputy will appreciate that it would therefore be inappropriate for me to make any further comment.
