Vol. 560 No. 5

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

John Bruton

Question:

78 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if interim funding will be made available to Meath County Council to allow works to progress to alleviate the immediate problem of flooding in County Meath, following the recommendations from the consultants and suggestions from Meath County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3035/03]

Since the interim report on the River Tolka for the Meath area was made available to the Office of Public Works earlier this month, discussions have been ongoing with Meath County Council with a view to agreeing a list of flood alleviation works, identified in the report, which could be undertaken by the Office of Public Works on behalf of Meath County Council. The discussions on the proposed works are now at an advanced stage and it is hoped to have agreement on the funding and a programme of works very shortly.
