Vol. 561 No. 1

Written Answers. - Regional Airports.

Paul Kehoe

Question:

312 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources his views on whether the operation of an illegal radio station, which is interfering with radio signalling at Shannon Airport, represents an unacceptable safety risk to those using Shannon Airport and living in its environs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3765/03]

Management of the radio spectrum is a matter for the Commission for Communications Regulation which is an independent statutory body. The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland, which is also an independent statutory body, has responsibility for the licensing of local radio services. I have no day-to-day role in these matters.
