Question:

356 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of persons who died by suicide in each quarter of 2000, 2001 and 2002. [3375/03]

Data on mortality are compiled by the Central Statistics Office and published in the annual and quarterly reports on vital statistics. The latest period for which data are available is from January to September 2002. The figures are set out in the following table in addition to figures for 2000 and 2001.
