Question:

450 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Transport if he will sanction additional funds to provide adequate safety barriers or walls between Luas and the garden walls of Woodlawn, where the rail bed is proving to be higher than anticipated and certainly higher than the old rail bed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3641/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 447 and 450 together.

The Luas line from Sandyford to St. Stephen's Green is being constructed in accordance with a light railway order granted by my predecessor following a public inquiry into proposals for the line. The inquiry examined all issues related to the construction of a light railway along the line, including the safety implications. I am assured by the Railway Procurement Agency, the body responsible for managing the Luas project, that all conditions associated with the order are being complied with in full. The necessary capital funding, as identified by the RPA, for completion of the line is in place.
