246 Ms Harkin asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the expenditure by his Department on photographic services in the periods 1 January 2001 to 31 December 2001, 1 January 2002 to 31 December 2002, and 1 January 2003 to date. [4015/03]

The expenditure on photographic services by my Department during the periods in question was as follows:

January 2001 – December 2001	€17,940
January 2002 – December 2002	€15,494
January 2003 to date	€1,636

247 Ms Harkin asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the amount of money spent on media advertising in the periods 1 January 2001 to December 2001, 1 January 2002 to 31 December 2002, and 1 January 2003 to date. [4030/03]

The expenditure on advertising by my Department during the period in question was as follows:

January 2001 – December 2001	€466,250
January 2002 – December 2002	€484,582
January 2002 to date	€68,055

Practically all this expenditure was non-discretionary, mainly relating to the publication of statutory instrument notices, notifications concerning afforestation, calls for tenders, job advertisments, acquculture licensing, notices relating to inland fishery bye-laws and notices relating to petroleum and mining exploration.

I will forward to the Deputy a more detailed breakdown of expenditure by my Department as soon as possible.
