Vol. 561 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

John Gormley

Question:

123 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the approaches he has made to any other Government Department on the way in which facilities owned or used by such Departments throughout the country can be more fully used for community and voluntary organisation use. [3741/03]

The question of the use of Government owned or used facilities by outside bodies is a complex matter to be addressed in the first place by the Departments and public bodies concerned.

On a separate matter, Deputies will be aware from replies to earlier questions today that I am fully committed to securing the most positive impacts for communities arising from expenditure, including expenditure on facilities, under local and community programmes. In the course of the review of these programmes that I am conducting, value for money of expenditure on such facilities will be subject to particular consideration.
