Vol. 561 No. 4

Written Answers. - Child Abuse.

Paul Kehoe

Question:

408 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of cases of sexual abuse currently being brought against religious orders, with convictions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4261/03]

It is not clear from the Deputy's question what cases precisely he has in mind. As he will be aware, criminal cases are taken against individuals rather than religious orders so the question of religious orders ‘with convictions' does not arise. If the Deputy could clarify what precise information he requires I will pursue the matter further.

Question No. 409 answered with Question No. 406.
