Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

441 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position in relation to the long promised new sewerage scheme in Castletownbere; the reasons for the delay; if the funding allocated in 1999 is still available; and when the project is expected to get under way. [4517/03]

The Castletownbere sewerage scheme has been approved for funding in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2002-2004 under the rural towns and villages initiative. The estimated cost of the scheme is €4.5 million.

My Department is awaiting the submission by Cork County Council of revised Contract Documents for the scheme.
