Vol. 561 No. 4

Written Answers. - Community Development Plan.

Mary Upton

Question:

460 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the position regarding a CDP application (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4356/03]

Pre-development work has been undertaken with the group referred to by the Deputy and a work plan has been submitted to my Department for consideration.

Given the tighter economic situation this year it may not be possible to progress the expansion of the community development support programme at the same pace as we have done in previous years. The question of providing core funding to new groups, including the group referred to by the Deputy, will be considered in the context of existing commitments and available resources. I anticipate that decisions relating to the expansion of the programme during 2003 will be made in the very near future.

My Department will be in contact with the group when a decision has been made.
