Vol. 562 No. 1

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Jack Wall

Question:

312 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has given a directive to the Minister for Finance in regard to the purchase of a site for a new school at Castledermot, County Kildare; if his Department has received confirmation of such a purchase; if his attention has been drawn to the position of the negotiations in regard to such a site; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5190/03]

The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie. On the basis of the budgetary allocation, it was not possible to make provision for the purchase of a site in Castledermot during 2003. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on projects and site acquisitions that could not be included in this year's programme.
