Written Answers - Disabled Person's Grant Scheme.

Question:

461 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason for the delay in the disabled persons grant allocation for County Louth; when an allocation will be made; the amount allocated in each of the past five years for County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5216/03]

Notification of capital allocations for the disabled persons grant scheme for 2003 will issue as soon as all local authorities have submitted their expenditure outturns for 2002 on the scheme as well as estimates for 2003. It is hoped to notify allocations to local authorities within the next few weeks.

It is a matter for local authorities to decide on the level of funding to be provided for the scheme in their areas from within the combined capital allocations notified to them by my Department for house purchase and reconstruction loans and disabled persons and essential repairs grants. The capital allocations to local authorities in County Louth for these purposes in each of the last five years are as follows:
