Vol. 562 No. 1

Written Answers - Departmental Properties.

Seán Crowe

Question:

134 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Finance the number of acres of State owned land which has been sold off to private speculators, in view of the Government's expressed concern regarding the escalating price of land. [4403/03]

Over the past five years, 33 properties were sold by the Commissioners of Public Works for a total of €1.252 million to a variety of purchasers, including other State bodies, community groups, members of the Garda Síochána who were in occupation of Garda houses and members of the public in general. Two of the 33 properties were sold to building companies. One of the properties was a surplus site consisting of approximately two acres in the Galway area. The other was a former Garda station in County Clare.
