I recently announced a non-national road grant allocation of just under €14.5 million to South Dublin County Council for 2003 which represents a 19% increase on the 2002 allocation and a 211% increase compared to 1997.
Included in the council's 2003 allocation is €2 million under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme for the Greenhills Road Realignment. It was not possible to allocate funding in 2003 to the Ballyboden Road-Grange Road scheme.
It will be open to South Dublin County Council to apply for funding for this scheme for 2004, when my Department seeks applications under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme later this year.
