Vol. 562 No. 3

Written Answers - Animal Testing.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

99 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be permitted to carry out a private test on their animals, as they wish to sell their heifers. [6032/03]

Once an annual round test, under my Department's disease eradication schemes has been listed to a herdowner's private veterinary practitioner a private test on some animals in the herd is not allowed. The herd of the person indicated, has been listed to his private veterinary practitioner in order to have his annual round test carried out between 17 February and 6 April 2003. If he wishes to sell animals he will have to carry out this round test before he can proceed to sell.
