Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - National Treatment Purchase Fund.

John Cregan

Question:

327 Mr. Cregan asked the Minister for Health and Children when approval will issue from the national treatment purchase fund for specialised equipment required before surgery can be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6225/03]

Health boards and hospitals have been asked to submit proposals in relation to the volume of work to be undertaken under the National Treatment Purchase Fund in the current year. I understand that the South-Eastern Health Board is finalising its submission and it is anticipated that it will include proposals for the provision of treatment for patients such as the person referred to by the Deputy. I have asked the chief officer of the fund to contact the Deputy in relation to the treatment of the person concerned.
