Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Closed Circuit Television Systems.

Seán Crowe

Question:

382 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if final documents are being drawn up by his Department in relation to closed circuit television cameras for Tallaght, Dublin 24; and when this pilot scheme will begin to operate in the area. [6133/03]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that they will be in a position to issue a detailed request for tender and technical specification documents to my Department for a CCTV system in Tallaght within the next few weeks. The CCTV system in Tallaght, which will be permanent and not a pilot scheme, will be fully implemented, subject to the availability of funds, in permanent accommodation within Tallaght Garda station. It can be expected that the installation of cameras will commence following the tender process, evaluation and award of contracts, way leave and planning processes, which in total will amount to not less than five months. The EU tender process will take a minimum of 52 days, the evaluation and award of contract will take a minimum of 30 days, the planning process will take a minimum of 42 days and administration will take a minimum of 30 days.
