Vol. 563 No. 1

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

352 Ms Lynch asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of design teams and other professionals his Department paid and intends to pay for work carried out in relation to schools listed in section 7 of the 2003 school building programme; the amount of money his Department paid out in relation to the 2003 school building programme; and the number of these payments which relate to schools of eight classrooms or less. [7281/03]

Section 7 of the school building programme refers to large scale primary and post-primary projects that are at an early stage of architectural planning. Design teams have been appointed for each of these projects. The allocation for primary and post-primary school buildings in 2003 is €342.9 million. Expenditure to the end of February 2003 was €48.2 million.

The information requested by the Deputy concerning the number of these payments which relate to schools of eight classrooms or less is not readily available as payment records do not distinguish between those payments made for projects at section 7 of the 2003 schools building pro gramme and all other payments made under the programme.

Tony Killeen

Question:

355 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Education and Science when approval will issue to a school (details supplied) in County Clare to modify its buildings to accommodate a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7318/03]

An application has been received in the building unit of my Department for universal access at the school referred to by the Deputy. This is currently being examined by my Department's technical staff with a view to providing this facility in the current year.
