Vol. 563 No. 1

Written Answers - Programme for Government.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

482 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Transport the extent to which targets set for his Department in the Programme for Government have been met or are likely to be met within the projected time scale; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7452/03]

An Agreed Programme for Government of June 2002 set out a five year agenda. One of its key aims was the establishment of an integrated Department of Transport with responsibility for the national roads programme, aviation and public transport. The establishment of the Department was one of the first programme initiatives undertaken by Government. We are now just ten months into the five-year programme and my Department is working towards the delivery of its various transport commitments. My Department's statement of strategy, which will be published shortly, will provide further details on our targets in this regard.
