Vol. 563 No. 1

Written Answers - Enterprise Support Measures.

Finian McGrath

Question:

212 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if assistance will be given to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 with an enterprise idea; and her views on the fact that all the bodies under her control have ignored this person. [7283/03]

As stated in my previous reply concerning this matter it is not possible to say, on the basis of the information supplied, the exact nature of the enterprise proposed.

If the proposal involves the setting up of a busi ness or enterprise, then my Department through its agencies, Enterprise Ireland and the Dublin City Enterprise Board may have a role to play. Enterprise Ireland and the county enterprise boards are independent in the discharge of their functions and it is the responsibility of each agency to determine whether a proposed project is suitable for assistance having regards to the criteria that govern the agencies' operations, the resources available and the working arrangements on the ground between the various local development bodies. The Deputy will appreciate that it would not be appropriate for me to intervene in the deliberations of the agencies in individual cases.
