Vol. 563 No. 2

Written Answers - Rules of Court.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

230 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has discussed the matter of providing Irish language versions of the rules of the District Court and the Circuit Court; the outcome of any such discussions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3841/03]

Since this matter was previously raised by the Deputy under Parliamentary Ques tion No. 468 of 11 February 2003, my Department has, in order to accelerate the translation of the court rules, placed a contract with a second private translation firm to translate the rules of court into Irish under the supervision of an official translator who has been transferred, on secondment for a two year period, from the translation branch to my Department. As previously advised, every effort will be made to have the rules – with the District Court rules receiving priority – available for publication at the earliest possible date.
