Question:387 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Health and Children when an ombudsman for children will be appointed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7618/03]
Written Answers - Ombudsman for Children Act.
As the Deputy will be aware the Ombudsman for Children Act 2002, which was signed by the President in May 2002, provides for the setting up of the Ombudsman's office by end of April 2004.
Work is ongoing in my Department on all aspects of establishing the office including the appointment of the Ombudsman for Children.
