Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Speech Therapy Service.

John Deasy

Question:

494 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of speech therapists in the South-Eastern Health Board area; where these therapists are located in the region; and the waiting time in each area for national school children, secondary school children, children with special needs and adults with special needs. [8189/03]

The provision of health related services, including speech and language therapy, to people with physical and-or sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board, with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
