Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Garda Deployment.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

556 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí deployed in each division in accordance with their rank; the percentage net change on the corresponding figures from February 1980 to date in 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7919/03]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities which are responsible for the detailed allocation of personnel and resources to individual areas, that the current personnel strength of each Garda division by rank as at 19 March 2003 is as follows:

The information requested in relation to personnel strengths in 1980 is not readily available and could only be obtained by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.
