The numbers of occupational accidents which have been reported by the Garda Síochána to the Health and Safety Authority since 1995 are as follows:

222

1997

1999

239

2000

414

2001

It is a matter for the Health and Safety Authority to decide whether to investigate such reported accidents. The information regarding notices served on the Garda authorities under section 36 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 1989 is not readily available but will be compiled and forwarded to the Deputy as soon as practicable.
