278 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the medical and paramedical care which is available for those prisoners who are mentally ill for short-term care and who may not require intensive psychiatric care. [8906/03]

Prisoners with mental health problems have access to medical, nursing, psychiatric and psychology services within the prison system. If in-patient treatment is necessary, prisoners may be transferred to the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum.
