Smith asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the measures that will be implemented to give effect to the Seventh Amendment of the Constitution (Election of Members of Seanad Éireann by Institutions of Higher Education) Act 1979; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no proposal at present in this matter. I will, however, keep it under review, particularly in the light of any recommendations made by the Seanad Éireann Sub-Committee on Seanad Reform or proposals arising from that process.
