108 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of applications he has received from companies interested in the rendering and disposal of animal and poultry offal; if there is grant aid available for same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8624/03]
Grant assistance is available in respect of the capital cost of municipal waste recycling infrastructure that is provided for in, or is consistent with, local and regional waste management plans. Assistance is not available from my Department in respect of rendering or other facilities for the treatment of animal by-products, and my Department has not received any grant application from companies in this sector.
