Vol. 564 No. 1

Written Answers - Industrial Development.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

154 Mr. Connaughton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the steps which have been taken by IDA Ireland to attract an industry to fill the recently built advance factory in Tuam, County Galway, particularly in view of the new hub status bestowed on Tuam; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8811/03]

The management of IDA Ireland's industrial property portfolio is a day to day matter for the agency and not one in which I have a direct function. I understand from IDA Ireland that Tuam does not yet have an advance factory. The agency has acquired 27 acres in Tuam, which has been designated a hub town under the Government's national spatial strategy and it is currently finalising site development works. It is the intention of IDA Ireland to have a high quality facility provided by the private sector on this site.
