Vol. 564 No. 3

Written Answers - Social Welfare Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

239 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the reason Parliamentary Question No. 93 of 27 March 2003 was not replied to in full; and the reason contributions were not attributed to the person for the other years of employment which would bring them up to the level of required contributions for a pension, in view of the fact that they were working since 1940, yet have only been awarded contributions from 1947. [9240/03]

The person concerned stated on his contributory pension application form that his period of employment in Ireland commenced in 1947. This concurs with my Department's insurance records, which show that he first applied for an insurance card in 1947 and started to pay insurance contributions in that year. If he now maintains that he was previously insurably employed, the position will be reviewed on receipt of information on the records of employment, the nature of the work and details of the employer.
