Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Departmental Correspondence.

Eamon Ryan

Question:

160 Mr. Eamon Ryan asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the reason the security policy section of his Department issued correspondence to a previous address of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 18 which had not been used in correspondence from same, with regard to the request under the Freedom of Information legislation from this person regarding the use of Shannon Airport for US military flights; and the reason a question in a letter from this person on 25 February 2003, asking for an internal review on this and other matters, failed to provoke a response with regard to the use of the second address. [9812/03]

On 2 February 2003, a response to a request for records made by the person concerned under the Freedom of Information Act (1997) was addressed to dwelling No. 26, rather than to dwelling No. 27, of the road name which he provided as a correspondence address. This was due to a typographical error and is regretted.

Subsequently, at the person's request, an internal review of the decisions taken in this case was carried out. The review properly confined itself to matters coming within the scope of the Freedom of Information Act.
