Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Jack Wall

Question:

217 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has provisions to accept community gain as sites for schools from local authorities; whether such sites have to be in the ownership of the Department or is it feasible that the Department will provide funding for schools and such sites as the sites are owned by the local authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10056/03]

It is not possible to provide a definitive reply to the Deputy on the basis of the general information provided in the question. The Office of Public Works acts as agent of my Department in regard to the acquisition of sites and each case is dealt with on its merits. If the Deputy wishes to communicate further with my Department I will be pleased to have a reply issued to him as soon as possible.
