Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Health Services.

Enda Kenny

Question:

249 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will confirm that a review is being undertaken of the health needs and the provision of health services for special schools; if he will indicate the person or persons involved in this review; the terms of reference of the review; when the review will be completed; if it will be published in full; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9817/03]

I am not clear as to the background to the question tabled by the Deputy. My Department is not currently undertaking any formal review of the health related support services provided to special schools. Health boards would, as part of the ongoing process of identifying priority service needs within their regions and maximising access to services generally, review on an ongoing basis service delivery and needs. They would also provide my Department with information from time to time.
