Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Garda Deployment.

Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Question:

383 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the outcome of any discussions he has had in recent months with the Garda Commissioner regarding the need to divert more resources to the Ballyfermot Garda station in Dublin to help tackle crime in that area. [9528/03]

I am informed by the Garda authorities, who are responsible for the day-to-day allocation of resources, including personnel, that local Garda management are satisfied that the resources currently in place in Ballyfermot are adequate to meet the present policing needs of the area.

Resources are augmented from within the district/division as required.
The situation will be kept under review and, when additional personnel next become available, the needs of Ballyfermot will be fully considered, within the context of the overall needs of Garda stations throughout the country.
