Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Garda Investigations.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

406 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will make a statement on the concerns set out by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12. [9925/03]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the area in respect of which concerns have been expressed is policed from Kilmainham Garda station. The uniformed gardaí and detectives who patrol the area are augmented by specialist units, namely, the divisional crime task force, the special resource unit, the drugs unit and a dedicated community policing unit. One community policing Garda is assigned to the area on a full-time basis.

The assault referred to occurred at the victim's residence on 15 March 2002. An as yet unidentified male called to see the victim and was invited inside the residence. The victim was assaulted when this person was leaving. The assault is still under investigation.
