Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Public/Private Partnerships.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

72 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Finance the comparison of actual costs on public-private partnership projects completed to date with the comparative cost of undertaking these projects within the public sector. [9668/03]

This is a matter in the first instance for the individual Ministers concerned – the Minister for Education and Science, the Minister for Transport and the Minister for the Environment and Local Government.

I can inform the Deputy that three privately financed projects have been signed to date. Two of these projects are in the education area and the third is the Kilcock-Kinnegad motorway project, the contract for which was signed by the National Roads Authority on Monday, 24 March. A number of design, build and operate projects directly funded by the Exchequer have also been developed in the environment area.

Question No. 73 answered with Question No. 57.
