Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Work Permits.

Seán Power

Question:

100 Mr. S. Power asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if the fee charged for the granting of a work permit is waived in cases where the subject of a work permit application has an Irish-born child who is dependent on the applicant; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9447/03]

In the past, the fee for work permits was waived where an application for residency on the basis of an Irish-born child was pending. This concession no longer applies. The permit processing fee is paid by the employer rather than by the employee. The work permit fee currently ranges from €65 for one month to €500 for one year and applications for work permits will be rejected unless they are accompanied by the appropriate fee.
