Question:

220 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children further to a reply to a Parliamentary Question in October 2001 regarding ownership of land at Gotoon, Kilmallock known as Kilmallock Workhouse that a method of resolving the matter was being investigated and that work was ongoing, when he expects this to come to a satisfactory conclusion. [10165/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 215 and 220 together.

I previously informed the Deputy that the matter was being examined by the Chief State Solicitor's office. The Chief State Solicitor's office wrote to the firm of solicitors acting, at that stage, on behalf of the Mid-Western Health Board on 26 April 2002. The Chief State Solicitor's office has informed us that the Mid-Western Health Board dispensed with the services of that firm. The Chief State Solicitor's office wrote to the original solicitors to obtain further details. To date, no response has been received and I am, therefore, not in a position to say when the matter will come to a satisfactory conclusion. However, my Department will contact directly the Mid-Western Health Board on the matter and will be in touch with the Deputy when the board reports to the Department.
