Vol. 565 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

211 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Education and Science the current position regarding the community college, Ballybay, County Monaghan, that was promised an extension and refurbishment in spring 2002; the stage this project is at; and if he will make a statement on this project giving a firm commitment to the school's future. [10917/03]

The 2003 school building programme has been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

The extension project at Ballybay Community College is at an early stage of architectural planning, that is, pre-planning permission. Given the level of financial commitments to be met from projects already in construction under the programme, I do not envisage that my Department will be in a position during this year to allow architectural planning for further large scale projects to proceed beyond their current authorised stage. The project at Ballybay will, however, be considered for the 2004 school building programme.
