Vol. 565 No. 4

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

93 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science the grant aid available to parents of a child (details supplied) in County Cork attending primary school who requires a home computer for homework purposes. [11191/03]

My Department operates a scheme for the provision of grants to primary and post-primary schools towards the purchase of equipment, including computers, for pupils with certain disabilities.

In November 2002 my Department issued a grant of €1,905.00 to the school's management to facilitate the purchase of computer equipment for the pupil. Use of such equipment by the pupil in his home is a matter for the school's board of management.
