Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Deputy in each case: (1) Deputy Costello – the need to provide funding for the interim public works programme to prevent flooding on the Tolka River in Dublin; (2) Deputy Pat Breen – that the Minister for Education and Science address as a matter of urgency the communication problem between the Department and Clare VEC regarding St. Michael's Community College, Kilmihil, County Clare and that priority be given to the college as a matter of urgency under health and safety legislation; (3) Deputy Naughten – the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to rescind his decision to reduce veterinary inspections at meat plants in light of the economic impact which it will have on the rural economy; (4) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the decision to close 30 beds and reduce out-patient services at Tralee General Hospital for the summer months; (5) Deputy Burton – the crisis at the James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown, the proposed closure of beds and wards including some medical and specialist rheumatology beds and the failure to open the newly constructed wing of the hospital; (6) Deputy Keaveney – to ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment for clarity on the immediate future of community employment schemes in Donegal such as Moville, Murlog, St. Johnston, Clonleigh; (7) Deputy Healy – the urgent need for the Tánaiste and the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to intervene in the continued lay-offs at John Ronan and Sons, Dudleys Mills, Clonmel; (8) Deputy Gogarty – the need to suspend Adamstown's designation as a strategic development zone and freeze development pending Government guarantees on the provision of funding for essential internal and external infrastructure; (9) Deputy Twomey – the threat of immediate closure of the accident and emergency unit at Wexford General Hospital due to the non-availability of fully registered doctors to staff the unit and the future threat to other units; (10) Deputy Connaughton – the ongoing dispute between the Department of Agriculture and Food and the CPSU at five district veterinary offices; (11) Deputy Neville – the Pollock Report on the facilities provision at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin; (12) Deputy Allen – the ever increasing incidence of violence in urban areas, with particular reference to a serious fatal incident on 26 March 2001 in Cork city involving the death of Adrian Moynihan and if the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform will carry out a ministerial inquiry into the fatal incident, especially in view of the conflict that has arisen between Cork City Coroner and the Director of Public Prosecutions because of the DPP's decision not to prosecute; and (13) Deputy Deenihan – the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to intervene to resolve the dispute involving members of the CPSU in the Department of Agriculture and Food.

The matters raised by Deputies Connaughton, Deenihan, Costello and Twomey have been selected for discussion and will be taken at the conclusion of business.
