Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

722 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if there is a provision whereby the health board can help with the disabled persons grant where there is a shortfall in funds. [11727/03]

Under the terms of the disabled persons grants scheme, a local authority may pay up to 90% of the cost of eligible works in individual cases subject to a maximum of €20,320. The use of health board moneys for the provision or adaptation of accommodation to meet the needs of disabled persons is a matter for decision by the health boards, which fall within the remit of the Minister for Health and Children.
