Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Community Development Projects.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

756 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs his proposals to assist a person (details supplied) in County Donegal to become a member of a community development project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11880/03]

Each community development project is an independent company limited by guarantee, with its own memorandum and articles of association. Contracts are awarded to projects by my Department subject, inter alia, to the condition that such legal status applies.

Membership of the management committee of a community development project is determined by the articles of association. My Department has no role in regard to nominating members of CDP management committees. In the circumstances, it would not be appropriate for me to intervene on behalf of any individual who wishes to become a member of a community development project.
